  [S31] Miriam Epperson is Married, (unknown newspaper, 1 Feb 1945). Word of Wedding to Lt. George Golden in Washington is Learned Miss Miariam Epperson, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Epperson of Hurdland, and Lt. George J. Golden, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Golden of 808 East Harrison, Kirksville, were married at Walter Reed Chapel, WAshington, D.C., at 2:30 o'clock Dec. 22, it has just been made known. Col. Charles I. Carpenter, U. S. Army Chaplain, performed the single ring ceremony. The alter was decorated with baskets of white flowers and ferns with five-branch candelara on each side. The traditional wedding march and soft music during the ceremony was played by an Army organist. The bride wore and apple green suit with brown and white accessories and her corsage was of orchids. The maid of honor, who wore a yellow wool dress with black accessories and a corsage of talisman roses, was Miss Frances Janssen of Eddyville, Ia., a roommate of the bride. Lt. Col. Albert S.J. Dean of Shreveport, La., was best man for teh bridegroom. Mrs. Golden is a graduate of Hurdland High School and attended the Kirksville State Teachers College. She was a member of Alpha Sigma Alpha sorority and has been employed by the War Department in the Pentagon Building, Washington, for the last two years and is secretary to teh executive officer, Supply Division, War Department General Staff. Lt. Golden was graduated from Kirksville HIgh School and attended the Kirksville State Teachers College. He was employed at the R.J. Hurley Lumber Company, Chillicothe, Mo., before going into the Army. Lt. Golden served with a parachute infantry unit in the 82nd Airborne Division and returned to Walter Reed General Hospital, Washington, last August for treatment of woonds received in France. He is now a patient of the convalescent section. Following the reception, Lt. and Mrs. Golden left for a short honeymoon in New York City. They are now at home at 9001Butternut Street, N.W., Washington, and plan to return to Kirksville early in the spring.
